Barry Sylvester, CPA
Senior Partner
Barry Sylvester is a Senior Partner who joined David and Dennis King in the 1970’s forming a partnership before venturing into a specialized field of accounting with his own firm 12 years later. He returned to King, King, Alleman & Jensen in 2004 with the announcement of a firm merger. “It was like coming home again,” recounted Barry when discussing the merger of Sylvester and Engman with KKA&J in October 2004. Graduating Brigham Young University in 1968 with a degree in Accounting and minors in Spanish and Economics, he joined the tax and audit staff of the then Peat Marwick Mitchell and Company before forming a partnership with David King. In his current role as Senior Partner, Barry focuses primarily on taxes and estate planning for clients.
“Many clients I knew when I was first with the firm are still here today,” said Barry when referring to the length of time clients stay with the firm. “A CPA is sometimes viewed in the same way many view their doctor; as accountants we build relationships with our clients. They trust that we know them and their history.”
Professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).
Born in Burbank, Barry graduated Burbank High School and now lives on his horse ranch in Redding, California. Prior to his move, he was involved with the Burbank Rotary Club and served as President in 1997, and on the Board of Directors of the Burbank YMCA and American Red Cross. His interests outside accounting include playing tennis, water skiing, and riding horses western pleasure style. Barry has three children and two grandchildren.
